According to Kevin Flanagan, a spokesperson for 3Com, based in Marlborough, Mass., the networking company continues to sell its full product portfolio in the U.S. and Canada as well as other markets. 3Com's goal is to increase market share and revenue in North America.
On March, 16, CDN published a story quoting 3Com CEO Bob Mao saying: “China actually has become our home market.” The company it has built a low-cost operations base in China that it hopes will attract more and bigger customers in the developed world.
Flanagan, in an e-mail, explained Mao's comment this way: “For any company, a home market is where you have significant market share and because of that, your new products and solutions are likely to be readily accepted by customers. For us, China qualifies as a home market because of our success there, but to imply we are abandoning North America is far off the mark.”
