SSD supplier InnoDisk gains order for POS computers

Source :Digitimes          update : 2010-12-02

Taiwan-based InnoDisk, which in-house develops and produces flash storage devices for industrial applications and embedded systems, has cut into the supply chain of Toshiba's POS systems with its solid-state drives (SSD).

SSDs recently began to make inroads into the POS market. The new storage medium is expected to increasingly penetrate the segment, and replace hard disk drives (HDDs) in the future.

Toshiba now uses SSD in 10% of its overall demand for storage media used in POS products, with HDDs making up the remainder.

InnoDisk's products used in industrial control systems and IPC currently account for 60-70% of its total revenues, followed by those for military applications with 15-20%.
